*** I posted this on the High Risk board but didn't get any responses. I thought I would try here to see if any of you had any insight to offer ***
Hi All,
I have not posted on this board previously, but I have had a pretty stressful pregnancy. I won't bore you with all the ups and downs. Here is my current situation-
I am 33 wks tomorrow. I have placenta previa and most likely placenta accreta (won't know to what degree until delivery but I've been told to prepare for a possible hysterectomy), as well as a "window" or thin spot in my uterus from a previous c-section. Today I got a positive result on the ffn test. I understand that the ffn test is really most helpful when the results are negative and that a positive result doesn't mean that for sure delivery is imminent. My question for anyone who is/has been in a similar situation is what course of treatment did your doctor recommend?
Right now I am not on bedrest or really any restricted activity. I had the steroid shots around 28 weeks or so, but since then I have just had weekly doc appointments and ultrasounds. Both my doc and peri said to prepare for hospital bedrest between 32 and 34 weeks, with delivery around 35 or 36 weeks if lungs developed. The nurse who called to give me the ffn results said she thought I would be sent to the hospital tonight, but the on call doc said there was no need to go. I have been having some cramping, contractions, etc but she said to just monitor the frequency and call if 4 or more an hour.
I will call my doc tomorrow, but I am wondering what to expect or what to push for. Of course I don't really want to go to the hospital. I am a SAHM with a 21 month old and leaving her would be very difficult. But at the same time, I don't want to take any chances. We live about an hour from the hospital which has been a concern to my doc and peri from the beginning.
I will quit rambling. Thanks for reading. Any insight into what course of action I should expect is greatly appreciated!
Good luck to you all with your own high risk pregnancies!!
Thanks!
Janet
