Has anyone had success using Progesterone suppositories vs. PIO shots??
I've searched through threads and haven't seen this fully debated. I realize most RE's don't want to take a chance, so they stick to what they have the evidence has worked. However, I do know of one friend who had a severe reaction where she could barely walk, after 4 wks. of PIO. She switched to suppositories and fortunately, her BFP stuck and she delivered a healthy, full-term ds.
Dr. Schoolcraft, at CCRM had told me that he was fine with me using suppositories instead of the shots right from the start. However, due to my donor's limitation in travel, I am cycling at a different center and my new RE is not so cavalier about it. He insists on PIO, or alternatively, PEO (I've never tried this, only PIO.)
Anyone - help??! Tips or creative ideas welcomed, too!!
I'm scared because in my one IVF (own-egg) BFN experience, I discovered my needle-phobia, and in particular, I had a severe reactn. to PIO shots that the center did for me. The nurses were concerned that had I gone beyond the first 2 wks., I was running out of clear, unaffected sites that didn't have inflammation with severe pain, swelling and heat. (massage and warmth applied to area did not help sufficiently.)
