Hey ladies. I am so, so, so happy to find this forum. I have been a member on the ivillage message boards for a couple of years while TTC, but they have nowhere to go on SR. I feel like I am so alone in this and don't know where to go.

Background: DH and I have been TTC for 2.5 years. We tried injectibles for the first time and were going for IUI #5. The IUI had to be cancelled due to poor scheduling, but lo and behond, we still ended up with three babies. I am right at 9 weeks.

I have yet to be at a point where I am happy and overjoyed at this pregnancy, and that is devestating after trying for a family for so long. I have had high blood pressure for years and have been on meds for years. I am only 5'1", and am beyond terrified of the strain and pressure that three babies would put on my heart and blood vessles. DH has been very frusterated b/c he didn't want to do injectibles, so he has kind of resented me for that. So, that has also been fun to deal with. We have been talking about SR to twins with my OB and that is where I am now. I am meeting with a high-risk dr. tomorrow morning to talk about SR.

Here is my situation - I live in Nashville, and there is noone remotely close who does this procedure. This guy I am meeting with in the morning is going to suggest I go to NYC and get it done by Dr. Evans (the guy who developed the procedure). He apparently has worked with him and is the best in the country. But I am wondering, is it really necessary to fly and stay in NYC? Or do I find a closer doc? Anyway, I have a few questions, and if you ladies can help me, I would be so grateful...

1. How do you find a dr. that does SR? Is it always a referral from your OB?

2. I am hoping my insurance will cover this, since I have IF insurance, but if it doesn't, what should I expect to pay for this procedure?

3. I have been reading up on SR, and I really want to insist on CVS testing beforehand. I heard this is risky with multiples, but I really want to make an informed decision. Is this normal to do CVS prior to SR? Will they let me do this? Again, cost?

Those are my top three questions, but I am sure I will have many more. Being at 9 weeks, we have to make a decision quickly and move ahead quickly. This is all just awful, as I'm sure you all know, and I cannot believe we are in this position... Thank you all so much for your help...

Mandy, wife to Jake.
