riccardomorri on "Sonohysterogram vs Hysteroscopy"

D/C ment

I asked my donor coordinator if I needed a "sonohysterogram" since I had read that a lot of people got that after a D&C before the next transfer. She called me later and said the RE does want to do a "hysteroscopy". From some Internet research I learned that a sonohysterogram is a minimally invasive procedure that can be done in an office but can only diagnose, while a hysteroscopy is a much more invasive procedure (need to go under general anesthesia at an out-patient center) but allows for diagnosis AND treatment on the spot. If there is a problem identified on a sonohysterogram, I would need to go have the hysteroscopy anyway.

Now the questions:

1. Does anyone know the rate of scarring after a D&C? Does it happen a lot?
2. If you had a D/C (or other reason to suspect uterine issues) did your RE go right to hysteroscopy or recommend sonohysterogram first?
3. If you had either test, was it painful? Scary?

It makes me want to cry to have to go under again. I am so tired of being poked and prodded. I was so excited looking forward to the DE cycle since it would not require me being put under.

Thank you so much for any experiences you can share.
