I hope it's ok to post this question here, I don't know where else to put it as CVS and amnio are very sensitive subjects on the pregnancy boards. Firstly I have read through many of the posts on this board and I truly feel for everyone who finds themselves in such a difficult position and I admire the strength of you all.
Technically I'm not in the position of Selective Reduction, not yet anyway and I hope it won't come to that as no one wants to be in that position.
I'm 37 and pregnant with twins, which at first overwhelmed me to the point of feeling sad about the pregnancy. I've since come to accept it and researching how to juggle 2 babies at once and how to make it all work. At 37 after many fertility treatments I'm worried about my advanced maternal age and the possibility of Downs syndrome and my ob/gyn tells me that the screening tests won't be accurate with multiple pregnancy and the only way to be sure is to have a CVS or amnio. Since I would terminate if there were something wrong with the baby the CVS is more beneficial as it is done earlier and therefore easier to take action if needed. I don't even know if it's possible to do sel. red on one twin in the second trimester but it seems much worse to me. Problem is I'm rh- blood type and I'll need a rhogum shot straight after the procedure. I've heard that this shot has thimerosol?? in it which contains mercury and is made from blood products 
I'm worried what it might do to the developing baby as I'm only going to be one day shy of 13 weeks pregnant. Usually you don't get the shot until 28 & 34 weeks pregnant . Has anyone else had this shot early in pregnancy and if so has everything turned out ok with the baby?? I know I have to have it because the alternative could be devastating.
I certainly hope it's ok to ask these questions here, and I hope nobody is offended by my posting on this board, if there is somewhere more appropriate please let me know.
