Warning: pregnancy mentioned
My DH and I met with the staff psych person to "clear us" for a donor egg cycle. To preface my comments, I actually enjoyed having someone to talk to. And my DH and I have never been in counseling together. I've never even gone alone, and he hasn't in many years. He really liked her. I think he also enjoyed the chance to talk.
But, she didn't know much about infertility. She kept making comments about "what is meant to be." Blah, blah, blah. I'm cool with someone telling me it might be a good time to consider accepting what is, but not because it was meant to be.
She asked me -- So, you didn't have any idea that it would be hard for you to get pregnant? WTF?! She doesn't have any info about our diagnosis! I don't have a hard time getting pregnant, but I need some god-damn sperm that can move in order for that to happen. And my DH didn't even say anything?! So, I said, well, no, I had no idea.
WTF?!
I am doing donor egg because I am old. And I am old because my DH didn't get his act together with his own medical information until I got old.
I guess my question is, how can a clinic with good stats have such a stupid psychiatrist on staff? I am still excited about going forward. Our visit with her was just a check-mark on the list of things we had to do.
What were your experiences with the psych consult?
