First, let me say I'm so, so thankful for this board. Like others, I've read nearly every thread here, and my heart goes out to all of you, at how brave and supportive you are to yourself and others.
I'm writing because my husband and I are deciding whether S/R is right for us. I'll be 37 in a few days, and I'm 16 weeks pg for the first time with fraternal twins, after TTC for five years, including three rounds of IVF and too-many-to-count IUIs. When I was 12 weeks, we learned that one of the babies had a NT reading of 4.2. We did CVS the same day on both babies, and the results came back normal for both about a week later. My doctors still say we have a 35 percent chance that the baby has other serious, non-genetic problems, and I'm scheduled for a targeted ultrasound this week to start checking for those, though they say it's hard to tell at this point.
Needless to say, I'm terrified. All I do is worry and cry, or settle into a state of shock.
My question is about timing: Did we wait too long for a s/r? My doctors say not, but I'm terrified of infection and whether it would risk the other baby. I absolutely don't know what to do. Did any of you do your s/r procedure past 16 weeks, and what happened?
Thank you so much for reading/answering.
