Hi ladies,
I am 8w2d pregnant with twins and have yet told my side of the family that we are expecting and that it's twins. My apprehension of telling is that I have heard about the possibilty of vanishing twin syndrome (VTS) occurring happens with ~20% of women pregnant with multiples.
Does anyone know how far into the pregnancy you are less at risk of having a vanishing twin incident occur? I have heard that once you get past 10 weeks the chance of VTS occurring is relatively low (less than 5%)...is that true?
My DH wants to tell my mom that we are expecting twins at 10 weeks as it is her birthday then, but I am leaning toward waiting unitl Thanksgiving (as by then I will have completed my 12th week).
I am torn on when to tell my mom. I agree, it would be a wonderful b-day gift for her to know, but the cautious side of me is afraid of getting her hopes up about twins when I am not out of the woods yet of having a VTS occur.
Any thoughts/advice or experience with this is welcomed.
Thanks,
Donnie
p.s. My OB agrees with my DH and that we should tell my mom on her birthday instead of waiting until thanksgiving.
