Hi - so my twin girls were in the NICU for 17 days and got mostly bottles there - so for us - breastfeeding has been a huge challenge. We spent a couple of weeks practicing and they have gotten sooo much better on the breast. Thing is - depending on the time of day and how full I am they are really snacky and hungry 20-30 min later and one of them howls for a bottle about 70% of the time after a feed. I will give it an hour of tandeming/ and or taking turnbs burping, on and off boob etc and if they are still fussy offer bottle. I simply am losing my patience with how hard it is to breastfeed two on demand, pump so we have milk for the night bottles and cluster feeds, and the stress of wondering every single day if I will have enough expressed milk to make it in bottles through the night ( considering their day behaviour with bfeeding we only do bottle at night so we can get a min of a 4 hr stretch of sleep.
Our girls are 2.5 months, have been gaining more than an ounce a day and my supply has knock on wood been enought to keep them growing and thriving --- I am just burning out and thinking about supplementing or of some other way to take the stress off. i would ideally like to build up my freezer supply by pumping more - but quite honestly I am barely handling what is on the plate now....
Just needed to vent I guess - thanks for still reading!!
