So we had a REALLY bad week in our house last week. DS had a major asthma attack. We saw the Dr the next day and I told him the flow meter #'s (80 vs 180), whistle when taking a breath, cough like croup, etc. He said DS's lungs were clear, thought it was odd, but prescribed some steroids, increased his daily medicine, and sent us our way with a f/u in two weeks.
Fast forward 2 nights later - 6 emergency relief breathing treatments and I said "F**K it -we're going to the ER. I can't do this any longer" Get to the ER, and they tell me it is croup. A major relief actually since it would have been MUCH worse if it was his asthma.
Anyway, I feel like his asthma dr should have mentioned this, caught it, etc. I used all the key words and even the word croup. DS didn't have a fever and had no other symptoms other than not being able to breath.
I do like the Dr. We have gone to another specialist that I changed from due to his bedside manner.
What do you think? Would you look for another Dr?
