Im a first time poster here, and I had a question on fertilization rates on day one. My wife and I are doing our first IVF/ICSI due to my pathetic sperm motility, and we went in Sunday for the egg retrieval. It was a little ironic doing an egg retrieval on Easter Sunday, but it just worked out that way 
The procedure went pretty well, and they were able to retrieve 16 eggs which were mature or very close to being mature. They inseminated all of them using my previously mentioned weak sperm, but only 10 of them had fertilized on Day 1. We were somewhat disappointed in this as I thought ICSI should yield better results. The nurse said that this is a good number and sometimes the eggs will fertilize later, so we might get more than 10.
Does this make sense to anyone, as I though they either fertilized or they didnt? I did some searches, but I couldnt find anything on delayed fertilization. We also called to see if we can get a day 2 report, but the nurse said that they only check on day 1, 3, and 5.
