Yesterday was our first U/S (6w3d) and the results were overwhelming to say the least...
The scan showed two sacs, two babies, and two heartbeats. Twin B measured 6w2d (one day behind) with a heartbeat of 117 bpm. Twin A measured 6w3d (on target) but only had a heartbeat of 89 bpm. The doctor said that he would have liked to see both heartbeats above 100, but repeatedly said that twin A was difficult to see because of its position high in my uterus and far away from the probe. He even asked me to hold my breath when trying to measure twin A's heart rate. He thinks that twin A will likely not make it.
Does anyone have any success stories to share? I thought we were lucky just getting to see heartbeats this early in the game, but the doctor seems to feel differently. Could the readings have been inaccurate since he could barely even make it out? Anything you have to share would be greatly appreciated!
