Hi ladies,
My twins never latched so I had no prior experience breastfeeding a baby. Brennan is 4 months old and ebf. He has gotten a bottle since he was 3 weeks old, but not truly frequently until 3 months when I really started going back to the gym, or leaving of an evening once in a while.
My sitter has said that lately he seems really fussy before his bedtime bottle. With me, he is so used to settling in for a nice, long breastfeeding session at 6:30 and then in bed by 7. He goes down very easily. With the sitter, she said he seems to not want to take it initially, but then downs it so fast like he's starving.
I tend to think it's just the routine change. He is such a creature of habit. It's funny, sometimes if my DH comes in the room and talks (he has a deep voice) while I'm feeding him during that last session Brennan will look up and start crying as if "hey, I'm relaxing here!" I guess I'm just wondering if this is pretty typical of breastfed babies to initially sort of reject the bottle? I guess I am just surprised since he gets a bottle every day (and occasionally two if we have a date night). I use Advent and am wondering if I should try a different bottle?
I think too that he is starting to realize more and more when it's not momma, so that could be why my sitter is only now having this problem.
